Dear John,
Please, forgive me my long silence during the summer.
I am extremely grateful to you for the pleasure and enjoyment of using EW which I received in mid June.
I have already conducted a series of counseling sessions applying your program.
I would like to acknowledge its accessibility and flexibility in viewing various problems once again.

Subject: Enquire Within Purchase
Thank you for your note John.
If the expected arrival time of the software is only 5 or 6 days I will wait
for physical delivery.
I have a project starting in the next 2 weeks where it would be useful to
use the software - if for any reason delivery looks tight against this I may
well get back in touch and ask for the download.
Thank you for your prompt response - I have noticed on previous occasions
that your e-customer service is excellent.
I look forward to using Enquire Within and will keep in touch and give you
feedback

Derek

Subject: Enquire Within Hints
Dear Michael
Thank you for your email. I had hoped to be able to experiment with the
software sooner but at least this week I have been able to devote to time
to it. My first reactions are that it is very easy to use (for someone who
knows about PCP and has done things manually.) I like the flexibility, the
way in which the scoring is done, and the ease at which you can switch
between analysis and further construct / element development.
In early January I had a chance to use RepGrid II and have now been able to
compare the two packages. For my own applications I am quite satisfied
with the correlation analysis that Enquire Within offers. Now that I've
practise I'm looking forward to using it on some real applications.

I'll give you feed-back after working through the hints.
For the moment I'm glad that Valerie takes care of me and the other newbies in repertory Grid techniques! There are no such coaches in my environment. I've had some trouble in starting this up since I began monitoring the PCP-list in summer 1998. But I never lost the feeling that mastering rep-grid will meaningfully add to my personal and professional instrumentarium.
Currently I'm working as a business consultant for an ICT organisation in the all-finance industry (insurance, banking etc.). Personally I'm -among other things- interested in worldview construction. See for instance the Principia Cybernetica Project on the Web.

Hi John
Following on from our last e-mail I have just ordered a copy of the software on behalf of my client xxx xxx of xxx xxx. We have just finished some preliminary work on a project within that business of restructuring job descriptions and identifying competences etc. This has been very well received and has proved to be a straightforward and pragmatic process -
thanks

Subject Feedback
John,
Following my acquisition of Enquire Within I have been working to use it within a specific methodological framework which allows research and analysis into experiential views within consumer opinion. I have found the software remarkably intuitive to use and it has provided me with a very powerful application with which to further develop the methodology. I am currently completing a discussion paper which reflects the method in use in examining consumer opinion in retail banking within the UK. Interestingly one of the major UK retail banks has recently launched a new advertising strategy which addresses the very observations raised within my use of Rep Grid. Although my paper follows a trial application on a relatively small sample size, the ability of the Enquire Within to provide a rapid data capture and analysis tool was clearly demonstrated - my thanks to you all for providing such a useful and professional product. Your rapid response to my questions was also very much appreciated.
best wishes
David

Dear John,
With all the pressures of teaching and research for a newly minted PhD, it's hard to keep up sometimes; I just want to say how grateful I am for your thoughtful emails over the year! Indeed the links and infor. you've provided me have been and will be most useful in helping me take grid research to the next level.
Many thanks once again John, and if I can be of some help from Hong Kong, please do let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

Robert

Subject: Use of web site information
Dear Enquire Within team,
I would like to thank you for such a good site. I am a researcher at the University of Sunderland in the UK. For my research topic, I have had to learn about and how to do repertory grids in a relatively short space of time (6 months) in order to carry out a large scale investigation into information systems development teams. I had to teach myself the technique and couldn't have done it without you site.
Thank you. I am only sorry that I couldn't have as observer a rep grid consultant in their activities, but your site was the next best thing.
Once again
Thanks

Thanks John,
I have found your gracious and patient assistance in my learning to be a real gift. The web sites will be helpful in my "education". Also, I have enjoyed Valerie's input as well. It speaks volumes of your work's grace because of how the two of you present. Once again, thanks.

Paul said, when I asked if I could use his comments above:
I appreciate your request and I am happy to comply with your request. I am not the most knowledgeable about grids as it is not my background, being originally a Molecular Biologist. I have been toying around with the grid process and your presentation of the concepts and process have interested me greatly and have been a real help in my explorations. I make this statement because I would not wish to misrepresent your good work in a way that was less than the best you deserve.

Hi John,
I'm really looking forward to using Enquire Within. "Flexible and powerful" is a cliche in the software world, but I think it applies here. I'm also impressed that it's as focused and simple as possible.
Would it be possible to receive an electronic copy of the program, while I'm waiting on the postal delivery? I'm in the middle of a strategic planning project, and we're conducting sessions to gather data and gain concensus. EnquireWithin seems tailor-made for this. (I've got lots of other projects to use it on, but this particular one is important.) If not, I understand.
Thanks!

I am a maths/learning support teacher in a comprehensive school in Shropshire, England - I am fascinated by the insight into individuals' worlds you can get with rep grid methodology - stumbled across them on the internet - EW seems to have a unique way of preserving the rich data without being an unweildy statistical package - am going through the downloaded version bit by bit as suggested - have actually used rep grids before but always evaluated them manually as numbers of participants was small - have just completed pilot study into maths and dyslexia using rep grids and want to use EW to do analysis in my part-time PhD (4th year!) - your trial version has been really helpful - am hoping to persuade my university to finance real one!
Actually as I am talking to people about my work - not many have heard of rep grids - even in academic circles - do you find the same?
Best wishes

This is an extract from a longer message:
So my interest is to see whether or not people have/use different constructs or construct systems in this context. I intend on interviewing between 10-15 people per group. I hope to use content and cluster analysis to examine their grids. I have had a pilot run with a couple of people using EW. It seems to be going well and my interviewing skills are improving with practice. The software seems easy to navigate around.

Thank you so much! I am getting ready to collect data for my dissertation and am using the repertory grid. I like how you set up the outline - very clear, straightforward, and easy to follow. I have found Stewart's resources on your website incredibly helpful.

Thanks John, I'm afraid that owing to the festive season I have not done much yet with my evaluation copy of 'Enquire Within'. I have only just started working through the tutorial; yet from what I see, it looks like what I would have once considered an answer to my dreams!
〈snip〉
It is some years since I played around with such things and it is only by chance that I happened upon your product. It occurs to me that 'Enquire Within' has amazing potential in the field of organisational development where 'personal politics', and thereby self-interested bias linked to personal survival, cuts across effective analysis of (e.g.) options and opportunities.
I'll let you know how I get on with playing around with the evaluation version...
Best wishes for 2008,
Mike Oram

Dear John
Thank you for the update and links to your most helpful and wide ranging website!
I share a number of your concerns about best practice for using psychometric instruments (in this case Rep Grid) with clients in a mutual dialogue or process, rather than using them as data fodder (my words not yours).
I look forward to doing more Rep Grid analysis when time permits and have added your site to my favourites for future reference - thank you.
